Suffice to say, be vigilant around these enemies, and always have an Anti-Toxin Hypo ready. Unlike the Adult and Invisible variants, the Infant Arachnids don't have enough health to justify spending ammo on, so engage them in melee, as they'll be swarming you anyway. However, a bite will lightly poison you, doing significantly more damage over time. The Infant version is the weakest of the three, as it has a rather low amount of Hit Points and only does modest amounts of damage. You'll be fighting a lot of Arachnids in System Shock 2, whether you like it or not. The Infant versions will be mostly replaced with Adult Arachnids on Operations Deck and then Invisible ones by the time the player reaches the Rickenbacker.

It is very hard to minimize encounters with Annelid Arachnids, as they begin appearing on the Hydroponics Deck and will never let up afterwards. While the Infant versions aren't too tough individually, fighting more than one at a time may cause frustration as they leap and scurry around the soldier. The Infant Arachnid is a pervasive, phobia-inducing spider that soldier will come to loathe as he explores the Von Braun and UNN Rickenbacker.
